" My name is Tammy Carlson. I'm a Cranial Sacral Therapist with focus on Myofascial Unwinding and Body Balancing. I've been a dental hygenist for 33 years, the last 9 have been with a holistic practice. I've met many alternative health care providers and they've guided me and my family to a new level of health. I look forward to helping you and your family do the same."

What is CranialSacral Therapy?

CranialSacral Therapy uses light touch, at times light manual traction to facilitate soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, connective tissue), mobility, bony alignment, and physiological health. It supports and enhances the body's self correcting mechanisms and healing ability. It is based on the principles of cranial osteopathy, which focuses on the bones of the head, the spinal column and sacrum, as well as the brain, the membrane system, cerebrospinal fluid and entire nervous system.

What You Can Expect

Practitioners are trained to sense subtle changes in the motion patterns of the cranial sacral systems. Recognizing levels of stillness and movement that extend through the fascial system of the body, the practitioners work with the body through gentle touch to assist the body alignment, tissue mobility, and health. During and after treatment, most clients notice and overall sense of relaxation, and quieting of the mind similar to meditation. As restrictions are found and mobilized, the structure and function of the central nervous system is enhanced, along with the health and well-being of the body as a whole.

According to John E. Upledger, DO, OMM, CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique for evaluating and correcting the functioning of the craniosacral system - made of the fluid and membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Imbalances or blockages in the system can be the cause of dysfunction in tissues, posture, or even emotions. Based on the idea that the body has an innate knowledge and ability to self-correct and heal, CranioSacral Therapy allows the practitioner to become a facilitator working in partnership with the body to achieve therapeutic results. Your Body Has 3 Separate Rhythms

The 3 rhythms include your heart rhythm, your breathing rhythm and your cranial sacral rhythm. The cranial sacral fluid bathes your spinal cord and brain, from deep within your skull to your tailbone. Fascia is a plastic wrap like film that covers everything in your body: every bone, organ, and muscle. This is one continuous piece. If any of this fascia has had an injury, repeated use or is imbalanced in any way, it can lead to stagnation of the energy flow through your body. This can lead to "dis-ease". Everything is connected! By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST and Myofascial Unwinding gently and energetically finds these areas and helps your body release the holding pattern. Sometimes these are patterns that you've had for years and are unaware of. This can improve your health and wellbeing. Anyone can can benefit from this amazing, gentle, energizing body work!

Energy Balancing

The body has 7 major chakras. To function at your highest potential all these chakras need to be open. This is accomplished by balancing your energy field.

MyoFasical Unwinding

Fascia is the white membrane we must cut through when separating the skin of chicken from the meat. This film like covering encases every muscle and organ of the body as it flows continuously from bone to bone. If the body suffers an injury or torsional insult, the fascia will become tight and restricted, even twisted, restricting blow flow, impinging on nerves and energy meridians within the muscle or organ. This can eventually result in "dis-ease". Myofascial unwinding can restore balance within the systems of the body.

Dynamic Body Balancing

There is a bone deep in your skull that is shaped like a butterfly. It mirrors your pelvis. These 2 bones are connected by your spinal cord and the coverings of your brain and spinal column. This bone, deep in your skull, houses glands necessary for hormone production throughout your body, including growth, sleep and reproductive. This is also the area where your body's "Status Quo" is maintained, from temperature and hunger to behavioral. If you have and imbalance in your pelvis or have had previous injuries of any kind, including those to the head and neck, your "Cranial Sacral System" can be out of balance. The connection between the "head bone and the hip bone" can become twisted and torqued, causing any number of symptoms of "dis-ease". This type of body work can help your body release long held "holding patterns" and improve your health and well-being.

What is Fascia?

Fascia is connective tissue. It's one of the most highly sensitive and interconnected systems in the body and it holds all the body parts together, basically attaching, stabilizing, and enclosing separate muscles and internal organs. If you looked at it under a microscope you'd see an organized mesh formulation of tubules filled with water.

Your body depends on your fascia to keep things where they belong. When fascia is strained your can feel tightness and pain. Read more about fascia.
